Visualizing something to make it come true?

Thank you as always for your insights and help. Answer any number of the following:

I am very curious how you view the idea of visualizing and I would like to hear different viewpoints on this subject:

1-How do you feel about the concept of visualizing something before it happens and how it relates to that something actually happening?

2-Does it just provide focus?

3-Does it just remind you to do things that are likely to help that thing happen?

4-Do you have any personal experiences in this area you would be willing to share?

Thank you again for sharing your insights.

  1. Visualisation helps in fixing long term goals. A target, which one wants to achieve. It helps in not only focusing but also in planning, achieving and evaluation of goals.

    Best wishes. :)

  2. 1-How do you feel about the concept of visualizing something before it happens and how it relates to that something actually happening?

I’m driving down the street and I see a corner coming up.
If I don’t turn, I can see myself going over a cliff.
Do I turn or test the airbags?
I look ahead at the possible end result.
Fly 300 feet to the ground nose first.
    How good is this airbag?
Not so good because I see my butt popping out of the truck on impact

    2-Does it just provide focus?

    Yes does

3-Does it just remind you to do things that are likely to help that thing happen?

Keep it from happening, damn right…….unless the mother in law is in the car and surviving a roll out is feasible.

4-Do you have any personal experiences in this area you would be willing to share?

I just did so don’t ask me to relive it?

I think we all at some point foresee possibilities happening before we act on something to bring us to that point in time.
Then with time and experience we get good at it because we have seen it many times before.
Déjà vu becomes part of our sixth sense.
I won’t say seventh sense because we pay enough taxes for what we already have.

We mentally calculate what will happen subconsciously then reenact the future before it happens.
Now if we could only do that for the lottery numbers

    Have a nice weekend

  3. Visulization to me is sitting down, eyes closed and focusing on a certain goal I have.
I (I suppose you call it imagination) visualize what I will do when I achieve my goal, also how to go about achieving it.
I have read many self help books on different subjects over the years and what Paul McKenna has written or spoke on CD has certainly worked for me
Very interesting topic but hard to answer in words.
    Thaks for sharing.
    Gave a lovely week-end.

  4. Visualization is a great mental technique to organize and refine a goal or desire. There is nothing magical in the process. It may serve to motivate, provide direction,or just help escape from present reality. Just about everyone engages in visualization. For some, it remains what we call a daydream. For others, it becomes the prototype of change.

  5. I believe that focusing is a great mental technique for motivation. I use it everyday to imagine what my life will be like when I achieve my long term goals. That's my inspiration. Then I look around to see what I need to be doing now to work towards those goals.

An opportunity to have a book published has recently crossed my path, although it could be several years down the road. I am currently using visualization to figure out what impact it will have in my life and what material will be included. This is keeping me motivated to write & create on a regular basis.

  6. I guess visualization can work to some degree....the power of the mind is often an untapped resource.

  7. I think, it helps to visualize something because it helps you think about various scenarios and how they would play out. I personally indulge in it quite a bit, right from the trivial to the very important situations. It's a different matter that things may not always turn out how you think they will.

You are right, it does provide focus and helps you think of alternatives too.

  9. I really do believe in visualization. I use it it all the time in the dance world, I imagine myself dancing well and lifting the trophy and how I will feel. It makes me feel posiive and then when I go on floor, I truely believe I can win and that's the only way to be a winner. Belief in yourself. x

  10. Visualizing sorts future aspirations between improbable daydreams and attainable goals and helps me to focus my energies in the right direction. Having visualized helps me to recognize opportunities that will help me attain my goals, pursue and latch on to them.
In nearly every job situation I've had I've visualized being in the seat of management and if that position continued to look good to me, I have attained it.

  11. I completely believe in visualizing something to make it come true. That also falls under The Law of Attraction.

I believe that when you visualize and want something bad enough that God/The Universe/Insert your belief here assists you in getting what you want. Of course you still have to work for it, but I think visualizing something to make it come true is very important. Otherwise your heart and soul aren't really there.

I've visualized getting myself out of debt. Three years ago I was $48K in debt with my student loans, car and credit card bills.

I decided that I was going to put all my energy into getting out of debt. I visualized what it would feel like to be debt free. I told myself that I love money and money is my friend. I told myself I would do whatever it takes to get out of the hole I put myself in, even if I had to get another job of sleep in my car. I put every penny I didn't need into paying it off.

Also, because I was manifesting these thoughts into getting out of debt, other opportunities came along to help me. I inherited money twice from grandparents, I also got more overtime at work, my grandmother sent me money for school.

Within two years I was completely out of the hole. ::Knocks on wood:: I hope I continue to stay this way, as you never know what will happen tomorrow. But for now I am very greatful, and it is also because I learned the lessons I needed to. I don't spend the money unless I know I have the cash to pay for it.

Now I need to visualize myself in a new job that I love.

  12. Visualizing helps you focus and clarify your goals. Also, if you can see it in your mind you can know it's possible. It is also the first step in creation and your thoughts affect matter.

  13. I learned long ago you got to name it before you claim it...and although none of my friends thought that I would become an ER BSN nurse I claimed it...then when I graduated with my MBA in December I shocked them all...see even if you ride the short bus...anything is possible

  14. Interesting concept...

1-How do you feel about the concept of visualizing something before it happens and how it relates to that something actually happening?

The ole self fulfilling prophecy - I think if you feel negatively about something it will have a direct effect on the outcome of a situation. It's just so hard to stay positive sometimes.

4-Do you have any personal experiences in this area you would be willing to share?

I try to stay positive anytime I can, but there are times I'm sure my thoughts have affected something in a negative way.

    Thanks!

  15. I've tried visualizing my novel being published and myself on tropical island for an extended holiday but neither has come true...yet. It costs me nothing to keep a positive out look so I keep visualizing my success.
    Warmest regards,

  16. I think visualizing is powerful, but you can't be attached, you have to be open to receiving even more than you visualized.

  17. I Stronly believe for me visualizing a goal often comes true. The power of the mind is a beautiful thing, as well as the energy of the universe.Visualising hard enough that you can feel it is a wonderful feeling.

  18. For many years I have been involved in a very positive visionary experience, one that is an ongoing and central part of my life. For me it guides, informs and increasingly helps me to separate what is meaningful in life and what isn't.I certainly need to give myself space to sustain this though, otherwise I would I am sure become disoriented within the confusion of the pace of life today.

  19. We used visualization alot when I was a competitve weightlifter. It is for real, and it helped me become a better athlete. I use it in my chiropractic office now to help with difficult situations. Think And Grow Rich!

  20. If I can "see" it, I can make it happen. We create our world every minute of every day. Think and Grow Rich is a book by Napolean Hill. Besides Jesus, who knew faith was really all you need, Norman Vincent Peale was the pioneer in The Power of Positive Thinking. I am lucky, my mom turned me on to this concept when I was very young.

  21. By visualizing what you want you are putting it into your subconscious mind so that your mind will start to seek out the goal or desire. Visualization is key to getting what you want. Especially, when you have followed a pattern for a long time that makes it difficult for your mind to grasp the new goal. The more you visualize the more your brain will start to seek out the desire.

  22. As a performer, I always visualize my entire performance, especially when auditioning for something. I visualize the reaction of the audience too.

  23. I was just teaching a class that touched on one's belief system. Whatever you hold dear and strongly believe, comes true. Where your heart is your actions will follow. This is the essence of "faith" according to Hebrews 11:1 and my favorite 1st John 5:14-15. My most recent example my last project; saving up for four flight tickets to East Africa. Raising private funds from family, friends and coworkers to donate to my online researched agencies in Ethiopia.

The year before last I came up short for the tickets but stayed true to my goal. Even my spouse was in disbelief which made it difficult. Several important bills had to be paid before we could leave. I had to "visualize" in order to work through the finances. But I visualized with a positive attitude. Hence, my blog site was created and there was no option for "it was not going to happen". In the end I had a wonderful time and the people were so grateful. The contributors were so moved they suggested we make donations for organizations once a year. I was so surprised that my vision gave others vision.

  24. You can't just visualize something and make it happen. The people who made the Secrete Video said if you just visualize when you are pulling in a parking lot, getting a space up close to the door, it will happen. That is bull. It is all by chance. I visualized my daughters tumor going away and even had her do it as well and she died. It only works when hard work goes along with it and it is God's will.

  25. I believe that anything is possible - regardless! All things in life come down to desire and intent and if one focuses on that which is desired, visualising it clearly and without any doubt it will come into being as long as one is prepared to work hard and take the necessary steps to reach that goal and/or desire.

  26. Visualizing helps us focus and imagine the future. If we can't see ourselves in that job, we can't have!

  27. 1-How do you feel about the concept of visualizing something before it happens and how it relates to that something actually happening?
I don't believe you "manifest" things, but I think that in order to meet goals you ahve to make them, think about them and focus on how to do them. Otherwise they are just good ideas.

    2-Does it just provide focus?
Definitely, but it's more than that. Some things in life take planning. Breakdown of things into smaller doable tasks makes them actually happen.

3-Does it just remind you to do things that are likely to help that thing happen?
I think that is the main thing. If you aren't consciously focusing on comsthing it's far less likely to happen.

4-Do you have any personal experiences in this area you would be willing to share?
Fitness - breaking down health goals in to little things, and incorporating them month by month into my life has really allowed me to slowly improve my health permenantly. If I weren't focusing on them, they wouldn't happen. And doing just 1 thing made it actually "doable".

  28. Steve, I am so sorry for your loss.

While I do believe in the law of attraction to some extent, there is nothing greater than God's will. It's ultimately up to Him. I think you said it perfectly.

    God Bless you.

  29. This might sound strange, but I actually know someone who used this concept for weight loss and it worked. My cousin started visualizing herself at the weight she wanted to be and it really motivated her beyond anything else she had tryed in the past 30 years. It inspired her to keep going--eating healthier, going to the gym, etc. It gave her passion.

So I can totally see this concept working for any goal. But it takes a real dedication to that vision to see it through...

  30. the word visualize brings to my mind the idea of physical or material that I create or want to create......I usually do not visualize finished work but I often watch and change the work by trying new elements or environment

  31. My problem is that I visualize too much....I see everything like a movie running in my head. Some times, it's things I'm worried about and I try desperately to hit the "stop" button. I consider those moments messages for me to "tread lightly" and take care...and I always do.

  32. Visualizing is key! I am putting this to the test right now actually. I'm visualizing myself on the summit of mount everest in 2015... let's see if it happens!

  33. Visualization is everything! Without it, were just flying by the seat of our pants. In my yoga class, we visualized getting into postures we were having trouble with. We spent a few minutes visualizing getting into the pose, one step at a time. We took the visualization further by really connecting with our muscles, using imagination. We even took it further by visualizing our accomplishment at having gotten into the poses. Sure enough, on the second try, there was huge success!!

Landon, you'll summit!! I know it!

  35. Tom, I run marathons and I visualize my perfect race every time before I run a race....
Well, it will be interesting to see how it will work out when I run Boston this year as I have heard some horror stories about people's first race there.....

I do believe visualization is a very powerful tool and for me it is a great way to connect body, mind, and spirit!
