Hi there! Thanks for the visit. :) I like the idea of charity starting at home--teaching your kids to love each other and others. :)
ReplyDeleteIf we could all change our behaviour on an individual basis as well as collectively it would be a great step forward towards a happier planet for all.
ReplyDeleteyes charity does start at home
ReplyDeletetime appreciates more than money does in the sense of the impression it leaves
i could not only choose one
the red cross have many agendas, some good, others questionable? as do all charities...
thanks for popping over to my blog.
I had a person tell me charity starts at home and I said to him ... so does that mean you want a bigger home? He said no I am quitting my job to take care of my mother and my aunt that are both mentally ill.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for posting.
ReplyDeleteThe mindset of charity starts at home. I'm afraid I'm failing horribly.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have much more than the proverbial pot in which to...well, you know, so I try to be smart, make a difference. There is a charity in Canada that Rick Mercer promotes that purchases mosquito nets for families in Africa. It's linked to a larger associated charity...can't remember which.
Red Cross? Better than nothing, but what we really need is a whole reconstruction of society. What are you doing tomorrow?
I think donating time is wonderful. I think donating money is lazy, but better than nothing. Have I mentioned that I'm not doing so hot myself, with my beliefs lately?
You've an interesting place here, Tom. Thanks for coming my way.

ummm ligten up on yourself.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find interesting is when I ask people and I ask them. What is your favorite charity and they say..... me. I am not sure whether to laugh or feel sorry for what they miss in the thoughts of charity...
Thoughts over time lead to action. Giving yourself a hard time is not likely to help. Thank you very much for posting.
I never knew about the miquitoe nets charity I will research it and get back to you.
I agree charity should start at home. Take care of your family's needs first.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose only one charity to give to, I think I'd pick AWANA Clubs International which is a ministry to children and youth around the world to reach boys and girls for Christ and train them to serve Him. Many charities make a difference in people's lives in this world, but this one can make a difference for all eternity. Also, most likely, only Christians would give to Christian organizations so if I could only choose one charity, it would be a Christian organization.
I am really not familiar with the Red Cross so can't answer this one.
Both are important and appreciated.
my one charity would be the local spca
ReplyDeleteI feel charity does start at home in the sense of this area. There is no overhead involved in any giving I do. Big buildings, paid executives, ect. doesn't feed anybody. Decentralize everything. Feed the people around you. Good luck with all that.
