(picture me doing something really nice for someone else here)
- There is a term I use called OMTHS -
It stands for out of my way to help someone - it is similar to a random act of kindness but it is going out of my way whether it be business, personal or a total stranger.
Is this a form of charity in your viewpoint?

Thank you for the comment on my blog! You have an interesting blog.
ReplyDeleteMy answer on your question:
for you it might be is a form of charity. But for the one you are helping, it might be different. He could think it isn't necessary. Maybe he wants to figure out his problem himself, without any help.
I would think that maybe you just possess the quality of empathy. many people don't have that quality and cannot put themselves into the other person's head or situation. Maybe you are just an all around nice guy!! So no, I would not call it charity.
ReplyDeletethank you for the wonderful comment/compliment
ReplyDeleteI don't consider it charity. I think it's a way of life. I recently found that when someone did me wrong, very wrong, it triggered the need for me to do something really, really nice for somebody in need (that I knew). Why waste time on anger? Turn the energy positive and do something with it.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you want to call it charity? I actually dislike the term. I prefer good oldfashioned kindness.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your nice words on my blog!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't consider it charity, just paying it forward would do for me!
I'm echoing the others here. I don't consider it charity. It's part of being a human who can live with her/himself.
ReplyDeleteOmygosh...That is the kindest act of all...I write to a soldier over seas I have seen 2 men home and one girl that I write now. It is my honor to send them gifts of gab....often sending my blogs and coffee for comfort...that is if you like the kind of stuff I write about just plain strange at times...
ReplyDeleteCharity is not a dirty word. Sometimes we need it. The other day we came to a stop at the bottom of the freeway off-ramp and the most ordinary woman was holding up a sign that said, "My family is in trouble." Something snapped in my heart. I'm not one to keep much cash in my wallet, I opened it and all I had was a five. I rolled down the window and gave it to her. I thought, if everyone that stopped gave her a fiver then she would have something. I know some people would say, "You don't know what she'll do with the money." And that's true, I just saw something in her eyes. I believed her. Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's always nice to meet fellow Californians.
ReplyDeleteWell, given that the word "charity" can and has been defined as love directed towards others as a reflection of God's love, then yes, I believe this qualifies!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting blog. Thought-provoking is always a good characteristic!
i don't think random acts of kindness are charity. although they definately can turn a rainy day to sushine. for both the recipient and the giver...
ReplyDeleteI could see random acts of kindness as a kind of charity, but I also agree with Alpha Buttonpusher--it's just good old-fashioned kindness. Something this world needs a little more of.
ReplyDeleteNice blog; thought-provoking and interesting. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
